Welcome to Equethy "rebooted"  -

Hoof Care Solutions for the 21st Century.

Through Equethy Barefoot Educational Workshops we have had the privilege of meeting and talking with and training  the owners of  thousands of horses working in every discipline.  We have helped horse owners overcome serious hoof care problems without the need for invasive surgery and watched as the science of barefoot hoof care developed and confirmed what trimmers were finding already in their work at the "coal face" of hoof care.

Over the past few years we have seen the hoof boot develop and change and become very "user friendly" and widely accepted.  Its benefits for rehabilitation and riding are endless and so we decided that we would like to help more owners discover how useful boots can be.

Equethy has for the past six years delivered workshops all over Australia and worked towards the development of professional hoof care training in Australia through the Diploma of Equine Podiotherapy course for professional hoof care therapists. We now find it necessary to be more "home based" with our workshops and training but we still wanted to continue to help improve the quality of life for domestic horses and so we have chosen to provide on line access to hoof boots as we feel they will be the catalyst that will change the quality of life for domestic horses!  We still recommend and endorse the wonderful workshops of Andrew Bowe "The Barefoot Blacksmith" who can provide you with barefoot trimming training.

In a perfect world we would all be able to ride every single day to create those rock crunching hooves we all desire, or have our horses reside on thousands of acres of differing terrain to create their own perfect hooves.  Sadly,  we do  not live in a perfect world so we need to seek out a hoof protection solution as close to nature as possible.

We believe that hoof boots can provide protection when needed and by using these we can also offer the horse the benefits of a totally bare lifestyle when not being ridden.  Its a win win situation for both. Choosing this option allows the owners to always maintain the hoof themselves if they choose and keep it in perfect form at all timess so the horse can work in harmony with its own biomechanics and avoid the devastating effects of hoof deformation that accompanies the use of steel shoes.

Hence we have "rebooted" Equethy Workshops so to speak,  to help provide hoof solutions for the 21st Century.  Please read through our information and then follow our links  to Easycare Down Under should you wish to purchase hoof boots.  Easycare Down Under is staffed by professional hoof care providers who can answer all your boot questions.

You have a shod horse and wonder why you should change now?

Consider theses statistics below from the American Farriers Journal of Nov .2002, V26 #6 p5.

 Quote:

"Of the 122 million equines found around the world, no more than 10 percent are clinically sound.

Some ten percent (12.1 million) are clinically, completely and unusably lame.

The remaining 80 percent (97.6 million) are somewhat lame and could not pass a soundness evaluation test".

Even if these figures are only half correct they indicate clearly that the traditional hoof care systems that we have used for our domestic horses, and the rehabilitation procedures we have used up till now have failed them miserably. Why not explore your options for 21st century hoof care alternatives?
